Creosote Bush Chapparal Salve and Hand Cream

 Just some basic information on my creosote bush salve and hand cream. As a reminder, I am not a licensed professional. I am a self taught maker and taking my hobby to the next level. I make no claims that my products will cure or prevent any diseases. Please consult with a doctor if you are pregnant or nursing. Ingredients: The salve has prickly pear seed oil that is infused with creosote bush leaves, beeswax, vitamin e oil, French Green Clay. The creosote leaves were harvested from my backyard, soaked/washed in cold water then dried and infused into oil for four weeks. It is then strained twice and stored in a glass jar. *The creosote bush is native to the desert southwest and is also known as desert chaparral or greasewood. The native people in the area have used this for years. The leaves have a waxy like texture and release a scent when rained on. It is the smell in the air after a desert rain. A few benefits of creosote: -anti bacterial  -anti fungal -antiseptic Soothing...

 Launching this blog as an add on for my skin care products. The fda has rules about what information or claims that can be placed on labels of handcrafted items or on websites of skin care products. They are considered drugs or cosmetics. The stuff you buy at the store or  at or on skin care companies have paid to have their products tested and can make those claims. According to the fda website, a drug is   "articles intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease" and "articles (other than food) intended to affect the structure or any function of the body of man or other animals"  [FD&C Act, sec. 201(g)(1)] A cosmetic is considered as  "articles intended to be rubbed, poured, sprinkled, or sprayed on, introduced into, or otherwise applied to the human body...for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance" [FD&C Act, sec. 201(i)].  FDA website I completely understand that ...
